Advancements:

American Bobtail, LaPerm, and Siberians (without colorpoints being allowed for showing) were advanced from miscellaneous to provisional.

 

Breed Standard Changes:

Abyssinian:                   No action - 8 generation pedigree requirement retained because a majority voted yes to 8 generation pedigrees  

American Bobtail:        Passed – All proposals

American Shorthair:      Passed - 3

Balinese:                       Passed - 1, 3, 4  

 Failed – 2 - Confusing and unclear purpose, Standard should and proposals should reflect a specific purpose or plan

Birman:                          Advisory to the Board -  Voted against allowing Colorpoint AOV for the Ragdolls

British Shorthair:          Passed - All except 2 which was not approved by the BC. Good example of standard cleanup

Burmese:                      No action - 8 generation pedigree requirement retained because a majority voted yes to 8 generation pedigree

Devon Rex:                    Passed – 2, 3

European Burmese:      No action: Current generation requirements retained because all BC respondents voted yes to maintain requirements

                                     Failed:  2 – Makes registration too subjective

 Out of Order - 3 – See proposal 2

Japanese Bobtail:          Out of Order – 1 – Missing 2 colors

Javanese:                      Passed – 1, 2, 4, 5

 Withdrawn – 2 – By BCS

Information Only – No Board Action

LaPerm:                        Passed -1 - BC Chair will work with all BCS to correct Tortoiseshell "description"s for all breeds

Maine Coon:                  Passed – 3, 4, 7, 8

 Failed – 11- Cameo definition used correctly in current "description"

Manx:                            Passed – All proposals

Norwegian Forest Cat:   Passed – All proposals

Oriental:                        Passed – All proposals - CO will devise strategy for re-applying tabby suffixes for all breeds

Persian Himalayan:       Passed – 4, 7,

 Failed – 1, 2, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16 - Proposed nose and/paw pad color "description"s not accepted

Failed - 3 – Cream more appropriate color "description" than white. Removal of word even indicated a lessening of the standard. The standard describes the perfect cat

Failed –5, 13 – Creamy white was a more appropriate "description" than white

Failed – 10 – Standard should describe perfect cat (ie what breeders should strive for), Allowances and “striping” or mottling lessening of standard

Failed - 11, 12 – Creamy white more appropriate "description" than white, patina not appropriate on seal or blue lynx

Ragamuffin:                  Passed - 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 13

                                     Failed – 3 – Too Persian like in "description"

                                     Failed – 5 – Odd eyed not appropriate in minks

                                     Failed – 11 – Deep nose break not consistent with cats presented to Board

Failed – 12 – Need better "description" of splaying.  Separate disqualifying attributes should be split out.  Other additions      were good.

Failed – 14 – Extending Persian as outcross is not appropriate.  Persian style cat is not consistent with cats presented to Board

Failed – 15 – Proposal should be specific.  Should describe what should happen not what may happen

Ragdoll:                        Passed – 2, 3, 5

                                     Failed – 1 – Birman BC voted against it as impacted breed.  Too easily confused with Birman

                                     Out of Order – 4 – Proposal 3 passed

                                     Information Only - 6 – Voted against moving Siberian to provisional.  Board voted Ragdoll not impacted by Siberians.

                                     Information Only – 7 – Voted against showing of pointed Ragamuffins

Russian Blue:               No action – 8 generation pedigree requirement retained because strong majority voted to retain it

Scottish Fold:              Passed – 1

Selkirk Rex:                  Passed – 1, 2, 4, 5

Siamese:                      No Action – 8 generation pedigree requirement retained because strong majority voted to retain it

                                    Passed – 2

Sphynx:                       Passed - 1,

                                    Failed - 2 – Removal of distinctive whisker break (will verify when transcript received)

                                    Failed – 3 – Nose hair is not always displayed in adult Sphynx

                                    Withdrawn – 4 - Since 3 failed

                                    Failed – 5 – Humanizing (“who’s length”)

                                    Failed – 6 – Standard should define what is desired not what may be, color has no points

                                    Failed – 7 – This type of general paragraph under colors is consistent with CFA breed standards

                                    Failed – 8 – Proposed nose leather/paw color "description"s not accepted        

                                    Failed – 9, 10 – Color grey not standard CFA color "description" – Blue is used to define “grey”                                   

Failed – 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 – Proposed color changes not accepted.  Removal of “without markings” or “even throughout” is lessening of standard.  The standard is suppose to describe the perfect cat

Failed – 17 – Genetic and development "description"s not appropriate in standard.  The standard is a visual "description". Original color "description"s are aid to breeders for naming cat colors.

Failed – 18, 19, 20 – Original "description" felt more accurate. Much Spyhnx pattern is displayed on stomach.

Failed – 21 – Will forward reason when transcripts are available

Failed – 22, 23 – Original color "description"s were more accurate

Failed – 24 – Term harlequin not standard CFA pattern

Failed – 27, 28 – Development "description"s not appropriate in standard

Failed – 30 – Will forward reason when transcripts are available   

Turkish Angora:           Passed – All proposals

Turkish Van:                Passed – 1
