February 2006 Board Meeting Summary

  1. Clubs: 
    1. Monticello Cat Club – Deferred Until June
    2. Ruban D’or Chat Fanciers – Japan – Region 8 -  Accepted
    3. Cat Fanciers’ Society of Indonesia – Indonesia – International Division (Asia/Latin America) - Accepted
    4. Grand Spanish Feline Club – Spain – International Division (European) – Accepted
  2. Club Activity Report
    1. 107 clubs completed this year’s Club Activity Report
    2. Please make plans to complete next years reports and get add your club’s activities counted.
  3. International Division
    1. First one day show held in Europe by Dutchpurr Puss club.
    2. First Asia/Latin America International Division meeting held.
    3. Shanghai Cat Love Club held their first show with 160 entries.
    4. First CFA Cat show held in Slovenia with Junior Showmanship and a Clerking school.
    5. A lot of activity in China including 2 clerking schools, a CFA Breeder Seminar with 60 participants, and 5 shows with 100 – 371 entries
  4. CFA IAMS Championship Show
    1. Show cost to CFA $69,000
    2. Publicity value of show $1,305,124 reaching over 177 million people
    3. Income from new CFA programs resulting from this show offset show cost
    4. 2006 Show will include additional recognition and income from NY Mayor and Wall Street

    1. Judging Program will be restructured with Rachel Anger as Board Chair.
  1. Management Committee has completed a Board Member Guidebook including job "description"s.
  2. Clerking Committee
    1. Held an entry clerking school at the International Show
    2. Clerking tests will be distributed in April 2006
    3. Both an entry clerking and clerking school will be planned for 2006 International Show
  3. International Show Report
    1. Show loss was $10,000
    2. Committee has revised their 2006 plan to prevent 2007 losses
    3. 2007 show location will be San Mateo
    4. Publicity value of this show included USA Today article and promotion on several San Francisco TV and radio programs.
  4. Publications Committee
    1. Publications financial position continues to improve with an overall net loss of $9,000 versus $28,000 last year.
    2. This committee is very energetic with a lot of ideas on how to continue to move publications into the black.
  5. Breed Council

  2. Legislation Committee
    1. PAWS continues to be in forefront of much of CFA legislative activity.
    2. This committee continues to partner with many national, veterinarian, and legislative groups to stay on top of ongoing legislative issues.
    3. Watch the CFA website for updates.
  3. IT Committee
    1. The CFA website attracted over 1 million first time visitors in the October – December months.
    2. Page loads were up to 6.2 million which is 18% higher than the same time period last year.
    3. Website updated for 100 year logo and new color scheme.
  4. Ethics Committee
    1. CFA Board Code of Ethics and CFA Judges Code of Ethics Approved.
    2. The Breeder Code of Ethics will be included with each litter registration beginning in near future.
    3. All Code of Ethics will be published on the CFA website prior to the June Board meeting.
  5. National Scheduling Committee
    1. Board approved a national definition for Traditional Dates
    2. Board approved a procedure for licensing a one time show
  6. CFA Centennial Celebration Committee
    1. Over 300 cats have been enrolled in the CFA Centennial Challenge
    2. CFA Centennial jewelry is available.
    3. Special centennial ring signs will be available for the 2006-2007 show season

    1. Reno Hilton is getting ready for us
    2. Party planning is in progress
